Children's Ministry Training
Raising the next generation is part of what we do as people of faith. Equipping you as leaders is what we do at Morling. Join us for our full online unit for academic credit or sign up to attend all or some of the zoom workshops below.
The online unit
Unit Code: DE020*
Offering: Semester 1 2023
This 13-week online unit looks at the theology and practice of children’s ministry. You will cover a wide range of topics, including child development, spirituality and discipleship for children, curriculum design, leading a ministry team, and children’s ministry within the life of the whole church community.
Assessment involves three short assignments over the course of the semester, as well as 20 hours of supervised field education in a children’s ministry context. You must also complete, or already have completed, the Creating Safe Spaces training (or equivalent) to pass the unit, as it is a prerequisite to work in church-based children’s ministry.
The weekly lessons and field work are supplemented by six livestreamed workshops led by current practitioners in NSW Baptist Churches.
*This unit can be taken as part of an undergraduate or postgraduate course of the Australian School of Theology (ACT), or in a single unit study mode.
