Morling Forum: Putting Faith to Work

Come along to Morling's next public forum on Putting Faith to Work with Rev Dr Andrew Sloane, Lecturer in Old Testament and Christian Thought at Morling College.
Work occupies a lot of our time and energy. Through work we feed ourselves and those who depend on us, exercise our God-given gifts, and contribute to the wellbeing of the communities we live in. But how do we integrate all of that with our Christian faith? That’s what we’ll be exploring together in this forum. You will gain insights into how the Scriptures illuminate our understanding of work, as well as how reflecting on work enriches our understanding of the Scriptures. We will explore some of the issues we face as workers in our late modern economies, and you will gain fresh insights into them in light of our faith. In short, you will be challenged to think about how the faith you celebrate on Sunday can be put to work on Monday.

This webinar is the first of two intensive days of the Putting Faith to Work intensive unit for Semester 1, 2021.
Speaker: Rev Dr. Andrew Sloane
Andrew was appointed Lecturer in Old Testament and Christian Thought in 2002. He teaches in numerous disciplines, including Integration of Faith and Work, OT Exegesis (Genesis, Deuteronomy, 1&2 Samuel, Ezekiel, Psalms), OT Interpretation, Philosophy of Religion, and Bioethics. Andrew qualified in medicine and practiced briefly as a doctor before going into Baptist Ministry. Prior to moving to Morling, he taught at Ridley College in Melbourne (1996–2002). He has published in Old Testament, Hermeneutics, Ethics, Philosophy, and Theology.
