Therapeutic Communication Skills

Description

This unit is designed to foster the development of self-awareness and understanding of the role of self-awareness in counselling. Situated within a Christian worldview this unit assists students to develop the foundational counselling attitudinal concepts and skills of sensitivity, attuning, attending, positive regard and respect and to develop basic therapeutic communication skills. Students are provided with extended opportunity to develop and practice generic counselling skills within an experiential context. This unit facilitates the growth and development of the student in both personal and interpersonal domains. Prerequisites/Corequisites: Nil
