Trauma

During this unit students will learn about the current theories and models for understanding and working with people and groups who have experienced psychological trauma. This will include the neurobiological, psychosocial and sociocultural elements of trauma. Key counselling skills and practices for working with clients who have experienced trauma will be covered. Students will learn how to provide counselling care for those who have been affected by interpersonal violence, sexual abuse, physical abuse, severe neglect, disaster and catastrophic traumas.
