Graduate Certificate of Professional Supervision

Course Description:

The Graduate Certificate of Professional Supervision is a four-unit accredited course with a specialised focus on developing the knowledge and skills necessary to enable graduates to be equipped to provide professional supervision services to others within their area of expertise.

Entry Requirements:
  • Entry to the Graduate Certificate of Professional Supervision is based on evidence of a capacity to undertake higher degree studies including a Bachelor degree, Bachelor Honours degree or Graduate degree.
  • Applicants are required to meet basic requirements and Morling College rules for admission to a study program including evidence of English competency. Applicants whose first language is not in English must have a minimum IELTS score of 7.
  • Applicants will be required to demonstrate that they have a basis for sufficient standing within the broader community in which professional supervision services are offered. In addition, applicants must demonstrate that they have a level of maturity and an acceptable level of psychological resilience that will enable them to engage in professional supervision training.
  • Applicants must demonstrate that they have sufficient motivation and resourcefulness to complete the study program and sufficient capacity to engage relationally in the role of a professional supervisor.
  • In addition, applicants must have a minimum of 5 years professional practice experience in their field of expertise.
  • Applicants must attend an interview in which they demonstrate capacity for providing supervision services including self-awareness, a relational capacity, ability to work in a team, capacity for ethical behaviour and ability to reflect on experience, learn from it and be open to feedback.
Course Outcomes:

Graduates of this award will have advanced knowledge and skill in the key components of professional supervision practice. Graduates will be able to apply this knowledge to their own supervision practice within their area of expertise. Completion of this course will provide a pathway into professional accreditation as a supervisor with either the Psychotherapy & Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) or Australasian Association of Supervision (AAOS).

48 credit points at AQF8 level

Course Duration:

The Graduate Certificate of Professional Supervision can be completed part-time over two semesters. The maximum length of candidature is 2.0 years. Please note, there is no mid-year intake available for this course.
