Legal, Ethical and Cultural Dimensions of Counselling Practice

Description

The aim of this unit of study is to familiarise students with the legal constraints and requirements of their work as a health professional, to increase cultural awareness and multicultural competency, and to foster the development of moral sensitivity and moral courage. Students completing this course of study will develop ethical maturity within their own personal and professional lives by ethical decision making models and codes of practice that will provide a resource to guide counselling practice, as well as the legal precepts governing work as a counsellor. Additionally, students will explore what it means to practice in a culturally competent manner. Prerequisites/Co-requisites: CO601
