The Eighth Century Prophets are Hosea, Amos, Micah, and Isaiah and the focus of this unit is on the books of Hosea and Amos. This unit seeks to understand the message of these prophets in their historical and literary contexts and see how the issues that they address are contemporary.
The Eighth Century Prophets challenge us to worship God, not just by singing and going to church, but by treating one another properly – for instance, being honest and fair in business, not worshipping money and possessions, and looking after the poor and vulnerable. They call on us to serve others rather than using others to serve us. They ask us to think about God’s character as merciful and just and point us to the person and work of Jesus.
