Faith & Learning United: Introducing Baptist Education Week

Bedford College and Morling College are pleased to announce the launch of Baptist Education Week, a new annual initiative that highlights the vital role of Christian education across New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.

Beginning on Sunday, 31 August 2025, Baptist Education Week will celebrate the power of learning to shape lives, churches and communities. It reflects the shared vision of the Baptist Association of NSW and ACT to see healthy churches, strong leadership, meaningful mission and a commitment to justice.

A Purposeful Collaboration

This joint initiative addresses a key challenge: lack of awareness. With numerous education options and independently governed churches, local Baptist leaders may not be aware of the diverse training opportunities available through Baptist institutions. Baptist Education Week seeks to change that by shining a light on programmes in theology, chaplaincy, business, education, health and community services.

The week will feature:

• Announcements during Sunday services, sharing the heart behind Baptist Education
• Open Night events hosted by Bedford and Morling Colleges
• A coordinated digital campaign highlighting opportunities to study, pray and partner
• Resources to help churches pray for students, educators and emerging leaders

Official Support and Shared Impact

Bedford and Morling Colleges have formally proposed Baptist Education Week to the Assembly Council, requesting that it be given “official” recognition in the Baptist calendar, alongside May Mission Month and Baptism Sunday.

The colleges also invite churches to mark 31 August in their calendars, share the vision with their congregations and join in prayer throughout the week.

“This is not just about events or enrolments. It is about equipping God’s people for a life of purpose,” said Dixon.
